BIO: Ruth Flaherty
Ruth Flaherty studied the local arts and crafts of various regions of the United States for more than thirty years. Her formal training in the fine arts began in 1965 in West Germany.
For the next three years she studied at the Wiesbaden Kuntschule. Her basic techniques in palette knife oils can be credited to the disciplined instruction of Kuntsmeister Herr Herzfeld. In 1968 she graduated with distinction. Recently she has exclusively painted in water media.
Mrs Flaherty has received recognition in juried shows in Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Tucson.
While her paintings have a definite southwestern flavor, there is always a touch of the old masters style with viewers find pleasing.
